Hello,
I know I've only been here a short time but I have my own definition of a Jedi. To me a Jedi is someone who can sense the force, or is trying to learn to sense the force. This was mentioned as heightened sensitivity but I'm thinking on another level. Jediism to me is trying to find the force in yourself and use that to connect yourself to the rest of the the force in all things. You come to an understanding of the force through all the lessons here at TOTJO and using what you've learned you can make the world a better place. A Jedi is someone who realizes they are the center of the universe, and so is everyone else.
The force to me is just that, a force. It is currently non-quantifiable and is without scientific definition but it is most definitely a force. It is energy being moved in the different directions throughout the energy. Each thing this energy passes through gives it a new taste, a new feeling. This energy can only be felt a certain way, with a sort of sixth sense that all humans and animals have, but most humans ignore it. We have learned to live without it. We ignore the basic ingrained thoughts we have and through this we ignore the force. Have you ever known something purely through feeling? A feeling you can't describe and then suddenly you know something and you aren't sure why? I never spoken to someone who hasn't experienced this in some way. This is our connection to the force. It is trying to reach out and connect us to its web of infinite energy, we only need to accept it.
Lastly, my views on the dark side. First I'd like to say that I don't think of light and dark side as literally light and dark. I think of them more as the light and dark in a person. As good and evil if you will. Though i don't necessarily believe that one is better than the other, in fact they are both equally bad.
thanks
