As for the training, umm, I don't know much about the subject, but a good training involves the will to learn and act, usually.

For me, I like this analogy

there are two lessons

one is the lesson given
the other is the lesson taken.

Training is the lesson given, if they don't have the will, then yeah. It's pointless and worthless.

If they take something from it, the will itself, the will to apply to training and growth, then yeah it's worth it.
